Disadvantages of Feminized Marijuana Seeds

There are many reasons why you would want to buy feminized marijuana seeds but there are also reasons why you might want to stay away from them as well. These seeds will guarantee you only grow female dope plants but there are also issues with this happening as well.

Seed Production

Once you grow your marijuana plants from feminized seeds it is rather difficult to produce more feminized seeds with these plants. This can be done but you will need to do a bit more than you would with plants that grew from normal seeds.

Hermies

This primarily occurs when you grow marijuana plants from feminized seeds. Hermies (or hermaphrodites) are never a good thing to have in your crop. When hermies occur there will still be bud production but your plants will also have pollen sacs. Once these sacs open they will start to pollinate your plant and that will cause your dope plant to grow both seeds and bud.

If the plant (with hermies) is near any other dope plants it could also pollinate them. To salvage the plants as much as possible you can pinch the pollen sacs off and still have decent bud production as long as they didn’t already start to open up and pollinate.

Overall the main concern with feminized marijuana seeds would be you get plants with hermies. This is not as severe of an issue as some other problems are though. Ultimately you can compare having hermie plants to having male plants as they carry many similar traits. Feminized marijuana seeds will just make it a little easier to deal with those male plants or plants with male characteristics.
